For workflows none of the five quite fits

C-Suite AI Custom Builds for South African businesses.

The five named productised Chief X Officer scopes are deliberately narrow because narrowing is what makes the productised promise honest at the cadence the productised line ships. C-Suite AI Custom Builds is the universal default for any function the productised five does not yet cover: a multi-branch operation that needs intake plus capacity routing plus regional escalation, a vertical-specific workflow nobody else has built before, an integration combination the off-the-shelf middleware cannot hold, or any function outside the five named productised scopes. Custom Builds runs through the same engineering team that ships the productised line on this site, with a 90-day outcome window instead of 60 and the engagement scoped on the discovery call against the operating shape of the build.

C-Suite AI Custom Builds sits alongside the productised Chief X Officer line and the augmentation engagement line. See the five productised Chief X Officer scopes or the homepage for the broader frame, and the pricing page for the augmentation bands.

Three named bespoke shapes

Three operating shapes most C-Suite AI Custom Builds engagements take.

Every Custom Builds engagement gets scoped against the actual operating shape of your business in discovery, and most of them fall inside one of three recognisable shapes the engineering team has shipped before. The shape names below are operational moments first, build artefacts second.

Multi-branch intake, routing, and escalation

A multi-branch operation needs a single intake surface that captures every prospect or client message across web chat, WhatsApp Business, and email, routes by capacity and language, escalates against partner-defined rules per branch, and reports the volume back to head office on a cadence the principal partner can read in two minutes. The bespoke build covers the routing logic, the per-branch escalation rules, the integration into whichever practice management or CRM tool your branches already use, and the operator who keeps the rules calibrated as the operation grows.

Vertical-specific workflows

Your operation runs a workflow shaped by a vertical the productised Chief X Officer line does not yet ship for, where the operating shape is recognisable to the team that has built operating systems for adjacent verticals over eight years, and the productised line will ship there eventually but not on the timeline your firm needs. The bespoke build covers the vertical-specific rules, the regulatory framing, the document templates, the integrations into the tools your team already lives in, and the senior South African operator who runs the engagement against a 90-day outcome window.

Custom integrations no one has built before

A workflow depends on a tool combination nobody else has built a clean integration for, where the off-the-shelf middleware breaks at the part of the work that needs judgement instead of routing, and the cost of building it correctly the first time is lower than the cost of running on a brittle workaround for the next three years. The bespoke build covers the integration architecture, the eval suite that catches the failure modes before they hit your team, and the operator who carries the calibration work until the integration is durable.

How Custom Builds work

From discovery to live operation, the build phase plus the 90-day outcome window.

Custom Builds run on the same operating logic as the productised Chief X Officer line, with a longer build phase scoped to the integration shape and a 90-day outcome window from first day of live operation. The phases below are the normal shape of an engagement, with the actual cadence anchored to your firm’s sign-off rhythm.

Discovery

Ninety minutes on Google Meet that document how the workflow runs in your business today, name the integration boundaries, and quantify the outcome the engagement is accountable to. The result is a one-page brief signed by you, plus an early build estimate scoped on the discovery call against your firm’s actual integration shape.

Build phase

Engineering work scoped against the integration architecture agreed in discovery, with weekly progress notes sent to the partner who signed the brief. The build phase covers the routing logic, the integrations, the eval suite that catches failure modes before they hit your team, and the senior operator briefed on the operating shape. Build cadence flexes against the integration depth of the workflow rather than against a published timeline.

90-day outcome window

The 90-day window opens on the first day of live operation, with the outcome the build is accountable to locked in writing in the brief signed at the end of discovery. If the engagement has not hit the agreed outcome by day 90, we keep working at no further cost until it does. Custom Builds carry a longer outcome window than the productised line because the integration depth deserves the time.

Monthly retainer

After the build phase ships, a monthly retainer covers the calibration work, the eval maintenance, and the senior South African operator who keeps the routing rules current as the operation grows. The retainer band gets scoped on the discovery call against the build’s actual run-rate, billed monthly in ZAR, and stays inside the same 30-day notice exit terms that govern every C-Suite AI engagement.

Productised vs Custom Builds

When the productised line is right, and when Custom Builds is the cleaner answer.

The discovery call covers both options before you sign anything. The table below sits as the early read so the conversation can start in the right place.

POPIA & client-data handling

POPIA-aligned by default.

Client data and integration credentials stay in infrastructure hosted in South Africa. The senior operator (and the build team during the build phase) operates as a delegated user inside accounts you already own, with the right to revoke access at any time. Processing is logged per workflow, deletion on request inside seven days, audit log exportable on demand. We will show you the DPA before we show you a price.

The 5 Promises

Custom Builds engagements carry the same five chief-level promises.

Custom Builds inherit the brand thesis end-to-end. The mechanic is bespoke engineering instead of a productised role, and the five chief-level promises stay the same on either side of the line.

Chief-level skills

The capability ceiling of senior operators who have run the function before, in firms larger and more complex than yours, applied to a workflow none of the five productised Chief X Officer scopes quite fits.

Chief-level knowledge

Domain mastery accumulated across many businesses where the same operational shape has already been solved, brought to your firm pre-trained from day one, including the South African regulatory edges and integration overlap.

Chief-level effort

Follow-through with skin in the engagement, the work that gets done because someone owns it rather than because someone is rostered to it, with the build team and your operator working from the same brief.

Chief-level experience

Pattern-matching across edge cases, the calls that get made correctly the first time because the same shape of bespoke build has been delivered in adjacent verticals, with the operating shorthand a junior engineer cannot fake.

Chief-level thinking

The judgement that decides what NOT to build, the senior tax of saying no to the feature that looks productive and ends up wasting six weeks of partner time on a workflow that will not earn its place.

The metaphor: as though a true CXO were to come in as a step-in and step-up within the function, with the bespoke engineering team underneath the operator. Step-in slots into the function the way a senior hire would; step-up raises the function above where it operates today.

The founding cohort started in early 2026 and the first published South African accounting and legal outcomes ship 7 June 2026, and between now and then what we have is an eight-year operator track record in adjacent verticals, a 60-day outcome guarantee, and an intake we cap at six partnerships a quarter, which is what trust looks like before it has receipts.
